MODESTO, CA - Two 14-year-old boys are accused of attempted murder for the vicious stabbing of a 17-year-old teen on a Modesto street, say police.
Thursday night about 7 p.m., a Modesto patrol officer stopped on the 100 block Virginia Avenue to investigate several people appearing to be fighting, Lt. Rick Armendariz said.
As the officer came closer, two youths fled.
Left in the street was the 17 year old with numerous stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was in critical but stable condition, said Armendariz.
Officers conducted a search of the area for the two who ran off. Armendariz said one suspect was located in a room at the Modesto Inn. The other was found in a home on the 700 block of Alice Street.
The pair were booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall.
Armendariz said the reason for the stabbing was still being investigated but officers learned the 14 year olds and the older teen had a prior conflict.
Police still asked that anyone who may have information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tipsters can also text information to Crime Stoppers by sending a text message to 274637.
